Catalyzing planetary balance

Our mission is essential to address existential risks.

Climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion are driving the planet to the brink.

The Tula nature finance platform is driven by a sense of purpose to protect and restore our planet’s ecosystems in addressing existential risks.

The partners’ deep experience brought them along different journeys to the same mission:

To catalyze planetary balance with nature-based solutions.

Tula Principals

  • Grace Hui

    PRINCIPAL

After a 15-year legal and compliance career, Grace turned her focus to the power of markets where she led the Hong Kong Exchange’s regulatory function for seven years including listing policies, enforcement and ESG disclosure for listed companies and she went on to start the exchange’s sustainable finance business.

Grace co-founded Tula with the unified mission to mobilize finance for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Grace is an adjunct professor in the Division of Environment and Sustainability at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She has managed grants for the European Climate Foundation’s decarbonization project in China and advised Asia Carbon Institute on bottlenecks in voluntary carbon markets.

  • Jean-Marc Champagne

    PRINCIPAL

After a nearly two-decade career in equities and equity derivatives at world-leading investment banks, Jean-Marc followed up on his passion and concern for the environment, by joining the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to help establish its sustainable finance practice and to build out its global Bankable Nature Solutions platform which included overseeing Asia-Pacific project origination and implementation for the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD).

His focus is to mobilise private-sector capital for nature and climate using innovative financing and structuring.  Jean-Marc co-founded Seneca Impact and Tula Capital to substantially increase funding into commercially viable nature-positive projects.

  • Tom Holland

    PRINCIPAL

Tom has committed the last 20 years to venture building and managing investments in Asian frontier and emerging markets including the co-founding of what is now the largest rural non-bank finance institution in Myanmar which planted over 300,000 trees as part of its corporate social responsibility program. This initiative became an inspiration to restore degraded forests in Southeast Asia and for such work Tom’s firm has gained the support of The Nature Conservancy.

Tom is completely unified in the private capital for nature mission, and holds an MSc in Sustainable Development at The University of Oxford.

Why do we need to invest in nature?

Nature should be central to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, for which private sector financing must scale to avert disaster.

A team bound by a sense of purpose
